ARIOSTO

Born on September 4, 1977, in the city of Mérida, Yucatán, his life has been marked by a deep love for Mexican culture and art.
At the age of two, his family moved to Belize, where he spent his childhood and adolescence, absorbing new experiences and lessons.
In 1997, he enrolled at the prestigious Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico City, where he graduated as a civil engineer in 2000. He later pursued academic excellence by earning a master's degree in structural engineering from the renowned Institute of Engineering at UNAM.
Driven by a fervent passion for discovery and balance, he decided to devote his talent to revitalizing Mexican architecture and structural engineering, always inspired by art that celebrates the rich traditions, customs, and colors of Mexico.
After years dedicated to his career, he turned his knowledge and experience toward the preservation of Mexico’s cultural heritage, understanding the importance of keeping the essence of his homeland alive.
In 2016, he joined forces with the talented artist Jesús Pérez Rivera to bring ARIOSTO RIVERA to life. Together, they embarked on a mission to rescue and reinterpret the ancient art of popotillo, a traditional Mexican technique that involves the inlaying of dyed straw from the millet plant onto various surfaces. This fusion of skills and visions led to a transformation that carried popotillo into new horizons, integrating contemporary elements without losing the essence of its artisanal roots.
Thus, ARIOSTO RIVERA becomes a bridge between past and present, elevating Mexico’s cultural richness and projecting it into the future with a renewed vision.
